Project Accountant

Peters Construction Corporation is seeking a Project Accountant.  This is a Full Time Salaried position, working between 30 and 40 hours a week.  Exact hours to be mutually agreed upon prior to hire.  This position is eligible for benefits including health/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), short and long term disability and paid time off.

 

The Project Accountant role requires a high level of attention to detail and follow through.  They must also be very reliable, as a large portion of this position’s responsibilities involve completing weekly payroll for employees and providing payments to subcontractors and suppliers accurately and timely.  The ability to learn to work with a variety of industry specific software is required.

Job Responsibilities

This position’s main responsibilities include ensuring weekly payroll is completed accurately for all employees and payroll is appropriately charged to the correct projects.  Additionally, this position will be responsible for subcontractor/supplier invoice management and payments to subcontractors and suppliers on a weekly basis.  This includes ensuring the accurate coding of incoming invoices as well as timely payments to subcontractors and suppliers.  Beyond these primary duties, this position will also work with items such as vacation tracking, 401(k), taxes, child support, 941, equipment revenue tracking, and credit cards.  While not a primary responsibility of the job, this position would also provide some basic administrative support at times, including answering phones calls and greeting visitors.

 

Essential Functions

  • Ensure all time and equipment is accurately imported and/or entered into accounting/payroll software.
  • Ensure time entered matched hours worked by employees.
  • Track paid time off.
  • Ensure all invoices are entered into the accounting system.
  • Ensure supplier statements match invoices in accounting system.
  • Provide payments to all subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Manage incoming invoices and receipts for accounts payable.

Education and Experience

  • Experience with Microsoft Office and other similar products along with general ability to use Windows computers.
  • Experience with payroll, 401(k), lien waivers and accounts payable preferred but not required.
  • Experience in the construction industry and basic accounting tasks would be beneficial.

 

Travel

The employee would primarily be in the office environment.  Travel would be limited.

 

Work Environment

This role is primarily an in person, office position.

 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

Job Expectations

This is primarily a Monday through Friday position.  Exact work schedule to be agreed upon between candidate and Peters Construction upon hire.
