Peters Construction Corporation is seeking a Mechanic – Commercial Construction. This is a Full Time Hourly position. This position is eligible for benefits including health/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), short- and long-term disability and paid time off.
The Mechanic is required to be able to work on a wide variety of construction equipment including skid loaders, telehandlers, boom lifts, cranes, scissor lifts and other tools/equipment of all sizes. Additionally, this position will work on company vehicles including trucks, SUV’s, dump trucks, and other similar vehicles. Work will include trouble shooting and repairing vehicles and equipment as well as preventative maintenance. Work may be performed at the Peters Construction shop located in Waterloo or on job sites, typically in the Cedar Valley, depending on the situation. Personal safe working practices and a focus on maintaining safe equipment, tools, and vehicles are essential parts of the Mechanic’s job as well.
The Mechanic must be able to solve problems efficiently and effectively, work with limited supervision, be willing to work both on their own or with others depending on the task required, and manage multiple competing priorities. This position will report directly to the General Superintendent, but will work closely with a wide variety of Peters Construction Project Managers, Superintendents, and other employees.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee will occasionally be asked to lift heavy objects and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The position requires good manual dexterity and coordination.
Job Expectations
This is a full-time position which will involve approximately 40-50 hours a week on average depending on workload and time of year. Generally, this is a Monday through Friday position, but occasionally, additional hours on Saturday may be request or required. Employee is expected to start and end his day at the office location.
